The remit was to improve the driveway at low expense. The driveway already had shingle that had become depleted over the years, mostly rolling away down the slope onto the road way.

The solution I recommended was to build a 'threshold' made of granite setts to keep the shingle in one place. We also built low retaining brick walls for the borders, removed one border totally that was parallel to the hedge to make the driveway wider and then replenished the whole driveway with 4 tonnes 10 mm stone. The end product was a vastly improved entrance to the property for a small amount of money
